Dr. (Mrs.) Stella N. Lemchi is a lecturer at the Alvan Ikoku Federal College of Education, Owerri since 1995. She possesses the following qualifications; B.Sc Home Science, University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), 1990 with 2nd Class Upper Division, M. Ed Home Economics, UNN, 1994; and PhD. Home Economics Education, UNN, 2006. She attended Federal Government College of Okigwe between 1981-1986 where she studied on Federal Government Scholarship, being among the outstanding students. She equally earned several other awards at various levels of her education. These include Arthur Nzeribe scholarship Award to undergraduates of Imo State (1988-1990), Federal Government Scholarship Award to Post-Graduate students (1992-1993), and Council for Development of Economic and Social Research in Africa (CODESRIA) Award for Thesis writing for post-graduate studies (1993-1994). As a Home Economist, her special area of interest is Textiles and clothing. She is also into entrepreneurship studies, gender studies, curriculum development and promotion of skill acquisition. She has been involved in developing curricular and instructional materials for both formal and non-formal education sectors in the country. SShe has served as resource person severally to such bodies as United Nations International Children Emergency Fund (UNICEF), Nigeria Educational Research and Development Council (NERDC), and Gender and child Rights Organization (GCRI) (a non-governmental organization).
Dr. (Mrs.) Lemchi is a member of several professional organizations including Home Economics Research Association of Nigeria (HERAN), Curriculum Organization of Nigeria (CON), Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN), Science Teachers Association of Nigeria (STAN) and the International Research and Development Institute (IRDI). She has published several articles in reputable journals and book chapters. She has also attended several conferences and workshops both local and international. She is happily married to Dr.Jones.Lemchi of the Department of Agricultural Economics, Federal University of Technology, Owerri,and the marriage is blessed with three children. Dr. Mrs. Lemchi hails from Imo State, Nigeria.
